Town
of Chincoteague
100th Anniversary Celebration
Welcome to Chincoteague Island, Virginia's only resort island, world
famous for our oysters, clams, fishing, and the Chincoteague ponies.
Chincoteague is a quiet family resort at the gateway to the
Assateague National Seashore and Chincoteague National Wildlife
Refuge. The Town of Chincoteague will be celebrating our 100th
Anniversary during 2008. Many special events will be held throughout
the year to help us celebrate this historic event. There is no
better time for you to visit Chincoteague than during this 100th
Anniversary year. Please visit the Town of Chincoteague website (www.chincoteague-va.gov)
or the Chincoteague Chamber of Commerce website for annual and
anniversary events. I look forward to meeting each of you during the
year.

Chincoteague voted “Best Weekend Getaway to
the Beach”
in March-April 2007 issue of Hampton Roads Magazine
“The flip-flop town of Chincoteague is our favorite base camp for
exploring the 37 miles of pure, unadulterated Atlantic beach of
Assateague Island National Seashore, where wild ponies frolic and
there’s nary a high rise in sight. Rent a bike to explore the quaint
island town of seafood restaurants, cute boutiques and museums
chronicling the seafaring life. Across the short causeway to Assateague
Island awaits nature trails, bird watching and wild, unspoiled beach.” |
2nd Saturday Art Strolls
On every second Saturday between April
and December, participating Chincoteague Island galleries and shops
are open from 6 to 10 p.m. with special events including art and
craft demonstrations, exhibits, readings and book signings, live
music, wine tastings.....and the unexpected.
