The World of Chincoteague
Popular crabbing locations on Chincoteague include the Memorial Park waterfront, the Chincoteague-Assateague causeway just before the bridge, and on Assateague Island near the small bridge about half way to the beach. The simplest crabbing gear consists of a chicken-neck on a string, a net for bringing the crab out of the water, and a container for holding the crabs. Crab traps are also sometimes used by visitors and are available at the Island's hardware stores.

Probably the most popular clamming area is Toms Cove on Assateague with access from the southern beach parking area. Small and large clam rakes are available at Chincoteague hardware stores. Of course, the best clamming is at low tide.
